Eyes that had long forgotten solitude—but froze in anticipation of it years ago (or perhaps since birth)—had grown so hollow, they no longer mirrored the oncoming void. People like to dramatize, claiming they’ve been left with nothing. It’s a clever self-deception that leads to despair, mostly because not everyone is able to truly see the emptiness before them and recognize that it’s real.
It’s a rare thing, though, when not even emptiness remains—for even from a biological standpoint, a vacuum isn’t exactly fertile ground.
